Mahmoud Valanejad is a Persian film score composer, music producer, multi-instrumentalist, music theorist, and mix and mastering engineer. He has won several awards at film festivals and has been nominated for many others.

His works are notable for integrating a wide range of styles and genres of music, from ethnic, traditional, folk, classical, and spiritual music to different types of Jazz, electronic, and Latin music.

Mahmoud Valanejad Playing Saxophone

Mahmoud was born on July 27, 1992, in Tehran, Iran. As a young child, he showed an immense passion for classical music, and thus he started learning music at the age of five. He started his journey with the Flute instrument, where he revealed great talent. After several months as he couldn’t tolerate the dull teaching methods of institutes, he decided to continue without an instructor.

Afterward, he showed an enormous interest in Clarinet and then Piano. He continued by self-studying. He had such progress that enabled him to play Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata’s first movement in the second month, Chopin’s Nocturne No. 20 in C sharp minor in the third month, and Chopin’s Fantaisie-Impromptu by only one year of learning Piano.

Mahmoud proceeded to take in other instruments such as Saxophones, Duduk, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, and Tombak. Meanwhile, He started learning music composition, arrangement, and orchestration in different styles and genres of music. Mahmoud has been teaching music since he was seventeen, and at the age of twenty-one, he published his first book on Piano learning. Currently, he is busy writing his new book on music composition.

Also, Mahmoud spent considerable time learning beat composing and electronic music. Later on, he began studying audio engineering, sound design, and mixing and mastering. Ever since, he has composed many pieces in different genres such as Filmscore, Jazz, Swing, Big Band, Classical, Modern Classical, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Lo-Fi, Electronic, New Age, Spiritual, Folklore, and traditional music, as well as Jingles and advertising music.
